  • Alan Gouldthorpe I know it's been documented many times before. It still amazes me the time volunteers commit to the rail industry. Recently on a trip from Barton-on-Humber to Habrough to do my Northern Rail station adoption duties. Noticed on Twitter the Barton train service was suffering delays due to points failure along the route. Arriving at Barton station I advised other passengers of the delays and continued to keep people informed from information gleaned from Northern Twitter feed and National Rail App. Also educating people that they can follow Northern on Twitter and load a suitable App to get upto date real time rail information direct to suitable handsets. I then took train to Habrough for my station inspection. All in all on that one occasion I spent over an hour volunteering and my time at Barton-on-Humber keeping passengers updated with info. No one walked away, knowing although delayed the train was on its way.
