    Recently - Outside of ACoRP I am one of the founder members of 'Women in Community Rail' A new fledgling group focused on and promoting diversity as well as developing a support/mentoring/discussion network especially for women in our sector but also for any men who would like to support the group and diversity in Community Rail. It is all about inclusion and working in co-operation.

Make sure that you read these very carefully as there are some significant changes to several categories and to the 'Rules of Entry'.

    NB: These are for information ONLY at this stage so that you can prepare and gather evidence well in advance. The awards will be open for entries around Mid-April and will be announced on our website, on the Community Rail Cafe and on our social media.

We have had a brilliant response from across the industry, with  TOCs, local authorities, CRPs and Station friends groups all represented...  moreWiCR (Women in Community Rail) is holding its inaugural steering group meeting this Friday, 22nd Jan in Manchester. We have had a brilliant response from across the industry, with  TOCs, local authorities, CRPs and Station friends groups all represented at the meeting so as you might imagine we are very excited about this!  



    At the meeting we will be discussing a launch event; how we
    now take the group forward and how each potential steering group member can
    contribute.

    We aim to generate funding/in-kind support to develop a
    website and forum for discussion, along with other functions as part of our
    action plan for the coming year.

     

    One key focus will be on supporting women active in
    community rail, either in the industry (e.g. TOCs, Network rail) or as paid and
    unpaid workers in the CRP/voluntary sector - but we will also actively promote
    equality & diversity, inclusivity and balance generally throughout the
    Community Rail world, whilst raising awareness of careers for women and...    less

    A sister group to Women in Rail – Women in Community Rail. Women in Community Rail hopes to: -Share good practice across the rail industry, for example the gender balance within the community rail is much better balanced compared to other sectors. -Actively promote equality & diversity generally -Populate a web page containing a discussion forum function, create a LinkedIn page, a Facebook page and Twitter feed -Informal mentoring -Career talks – encouraging younger females into Community Rail roles as well as young people generally, particularly those who choose a different career path than an apprenticeship -other ideas welcome Please get in touch if you are interested in Women in Community Rail – we are particularly looking for people interested in being on the steering group and leading areas of interest and activities in the group.
